Vobster Quay
Vobster Quay
A long weekend camping and diving at Vobster Quay.
The diving was great, with reasonable vis and plenty to explore. Although Vobster can get rather cold with the water temperature dropping down to 4 degrees celsius as the quarry itself is spring fed.
Seven Acres Camping Site
A word of caution about this camp site. The owners are not very pleasant and have zero people skills. They’re only interested in taking your money and getting rid of you asap.
One of our party was asked to leave the site after she had packed everything up and moved her car. She had joined another of our party (staying a day longer) for a cup of tea before going to the quarry to meet the rest of us. This was not ‘allowed’ according to the owner and she was ‘ejected’ from the site.
We returned to the site after diving to collect some of our gear that was with the party member staying a day longer. We had packed everything up and vacated the pitch first thing in the morning, prior to going diving.
We had planned to join to our colleagues for a BBQ before the long drive home.
We were not made welcome by the camp site owners and she actually said to us ‘you’re not staying, are you!’.
So needless to say we didn’t.
None of our group would ever go there again!
